Collaborative Design Practice

Week 5 — Week 10

CDP Project: The Gluconomy Game Proposal

Starting on the design project, where we're tasked to "collaborate" with the original board game creator from other semesters, from understanding the board game and how it works, and other aspects. Here, we are responsible for redefining the board game by helping the original board game creator to align their goals much better with a visual change.

Instructions

Mr Shamsul Hamimi, my lecturer for the Collaborative Design Practice module for this April 2025 semester, gives us a heads-up on the upcoming tasks and requirements.

    Work Process

Continue working on the visual design aspect of The Gluconomy board game. My team and I start carrying out the design task to refine the visual to breathe life into the original board game design to make it look more visually appealing while integrating the original theme of Glucose metabolism X Economy.

    Week 6

Mr Shamsul commented on the card layout designs and pointed out that the top-down layout with the main image in the centre with a border is the best.

    Week 7

Mr Shamsul approved the good idea of splitting the board into personal and main, but we need to think clearly about what elements can relate to our target audience.

    Week 8

Mr Shamsul liked the overall direction and feel of the stock market and power car,d but suggested making the "skip" card more obvious.

    Week 9

The logo should be refined to make the lines thicker and reduce the number of pointers; the green color is a good choice.

    Week 10

The initial version of digitalization of the cards needed more elements in the background, can brainstorm ways to fill the empty white space and reconsider the font used.

    My reflections

Through this first project, it acts as a first step in a design process, where we as designers will need to empathize with others, understand their perspective, and play our roles in aligning the outcome that provides a more enjoyable experience to everyone, or the target audience.
