UI UX Design Document

Continuing on my final decision on the app proposal, I start to gather insights from the user group of the app for further analysis to refine my design decision and focus on the main issues occurring in the SPayGlobal app.

Project 2 - UI UX Design Document

In this assignment, I'm required to conduct user research and analyze the information to gather insights on the real-world issues faced by my selected application for redesign.

Deadline: Week 10

Conducting surveys, interviews, and market studies on the selected topic for in-detail information.
Including the key features of the mobile application and providing a clear flowchart of the app.

Learning goals:

  • Conceptual and Cognitive Competencies – Demonstrate and apply knowledge of design principles technical processes, tools, and software.

Work Process

Project Overview

Further developing the design proposal, Mr Zeon provided us with the necessary information on conducting user research to gather insights to fine-tune the design for the final decision. With the class activities conducted during class, I'm able to grasp the crucial methods for gathering the users' feedback before spending resources to design the final app redesign outcome.

User Research: Online Questionnaire

To have quantitative and qualitative responses on the users' current opinions of the SPayGlobal app, I figured and listed out several key points to be included as questions for the participants' feedback in the hope of gathering further insights into the app designs that I may have missed and disregarded in the design proposal.

S Pay Global, a Sarawak's fintech app

Conducting the user research using this method with targeted users in Sarawak, I announced my Google Form survey to the Sarawak communities, which spans from my family members, and relatives to my friends currently in Sarawak and the public.

User Research: Interview

Interviewing my close family members who have been using the aforementioned app since its launch, I communicated with them to allocate a timeslot for online interviews through Discord video calls and WhatsApp voice calls. From the interview, I can get to know more specific feedback and criticism on the current app design and functions from their responses. I'm also able to hear some unique and interesting points of view from my interviewee.

More of my progress is recorded and documented in a slide I made, with:
  • Introduction to the app (purpose of app, problem statement)
  • User research (surveys, interviews, user journey, user persona)
  • Information Architecture (card sorting, information architecture map, user flow chart)
  • Minimum Viable Product (complete app feature list and MVP identification)

My reflections

I'm grateful that in this assignment I have a supportive family and friends to help me gather the required responses by spending their time to complete my surveys and interviews in only a short time, allowing me to be able to document the user feedback analysis on the current SPayGlobal app. Not to mention that with this assignment, I've realized how important this analysis step is not only in this assignment but in all the app design projects out there in society as I learnt about these necessary work procedures for the UIUX designer's job through the sharing by the seniors and professionals on social media to create a successful application.
